ive been experiencing daily hypos
that have been hard to resolve
i have cut back on the rapid insulin use
and have began to reduce my lantus
units
i havent seen results yet
should i reduce lantus at a higher
reduction?
i only reduced it by 1 unit in the morning so far
but have significantly reduced the rapid insulin
the hypos mainly occur later in the day
which is why i chose to reduce the morning
dose of lantus rather than the evening dose

im also wondering if the treatment of the hypos
is just causing it to go up then down again
as it doesnt seem to stay up for long
maybe for 1/2 an hour
i can only treat the hypos with sugar cubes
are they making the hypos worse?

Try a banana or grapes, are you a new diabetics? Levemir my long term kicks in after 4 hrs so at 12 midday I must eat or go hypo, sugar equals yo yo effect, up and down all day!

Perhaps you need to eat something like a small slice of bread or a couple of oatcakes after you eat the sugar cubes. This should prevent a further hypo.

If you're still getting hypos and they're not linked to a meal bolus, it looks like you need to reduce the Lantus again. Normally you can tell whether a change in dose is working after two or three days.

If you have a DSN, you should tell her what is happening and ask for advice.

i eat a really low carb diet so i have no carbs
around except for the sugar cubes and
carbs that are in the vegetables and peanut
butter that i eat
i have been diabetic for a few years and decided to go
low carb and had no trouble with hypos until recently
even after a few months of low carb
the other reason i have to use sugar cubes is because
its the only food besides vegetables that i dont
binge on

That sounds like you may be having too much basal. Have you done a basal test recently?
