Normally a very happy outgoing person, had a rough time controlling sugars, but now I back on track , however I just feel as though I want to cry all the time, I don't like being at home, I'm constantly picking on things and just being overall miserable !! Feel like I've lost myself .. Is this part of my diabetes ??? There's loads of issues I could rant on about but I just feel like I've lost the plot, I very rarely winge about stuff but I feel like everything is getting on top of me and I just want to explode! Anybody else feel like this?

Do mention it to your Dr & diabetes team, I'm sure they can offer you support, treatment and advice to help you cope better in this difficult period of your life, don't worry about bursting into tears as they will have seen this happen many times before with patients.

Best wishes @sugarangel

And don't forget you can also blub on here as much as you need to ( and sight unseen) and there are other diabetics who will understand just how you're feeling...

PS Last year as part of my diabetic review there was a little booklet to complete, and one of the questions was about depression, so they're aware that it can be a problem.

It's just a thought, but have you felt this way at this time of year before? If you're anything like me, it's just about the worst season for feeling down - short days, and cold, wet, miserable weather, but my overall mood tends to lift in the very early spring, as the days begin to grow longer, the sunshine gets brighter and I can see warmer days are on the way. For some years now, every November I've tended to become far more negative than I am normally. I'm an outdoors person and I'd always put it down to being cooped-up more indoors, at this time of the year.

On my diagnosis with T2 I was found to be deficient in vitamin D, which I've taken supplements for since. I don't know if that's what has helped, as I've not been quite so bad since, but I've sometimes wondered if I've a growing tendency towards SAD (Seasonally Affective Disorder).

There's a bit about it at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder

Hi @sugarangel
Not sure if this will help but you are not alone in feeling like this.
it does not take much to get me blubbing , i can't even talk about my D sometimes out loud with out tears.
after 18 years I am not surprised you have times where you feel like this.

you can tell us how you feel and nobody will judge you cuz we have all had feelings like this at 1 time or another.

a visit to your GP could help or a phone call to your Diabetic Specialist nurse to see if you can get an appointment to talk through how you are feeling.
take care young lady and keep posting xx

all the best !

Thanks terryhudson, I think I'm gonna have to do something

Take someone trusted to your GP with you.. Is there anybody else know how you are feeling?
I take my hubby. I'm fortunate that my GP even contacts me on a Sunday by email..

I'm going to make appointments tomorrow and take my husband , I just totally lost it tonight and feel so guilty that my husband was on the receiving end of it... I flipped because my car decided it doesn't want to drive and had 2 flat tyres in 1 week with one now, then eventually got home to find that my dad has dismantled a tap in bathroom after he couldn't switch it off now he has damaged the thread and the actual tap so I've capped it off now , luckily I work in a builders merchants so I can get most gear and I know how to fit it so that's ok but today I just lost it, I'm quite a strong person but feel all my defences have just dropped and feel very vulnerable, I had some form of anxiety episode too which frightened me a bit I couldn't breathe and my heart was going nuts. I'm trying not to sound crazy, I just don't know what is happening. I don't know if SAD has anything to do with it but I ain't ruling it out though coz my brother suffers with it.

But can I say to all those that have commented on this post, I know you don't know me from adam but I really appreciate the support and advice x

High sugars can affect your emotions and make a person a bit tetchy. When you lose it, the stress pushes your sugars higher and you're locked in to a cycle. Had this for months before diagnosis and had no idea what was going on.

Hope you get it sorted.

I think sometimes that having the extra pressures of keeping bloods good or just testing etc on top of what other non diabetics have to cope with is just extra pressure that others may not appreciate no matter how close they are.

I remember quite a while back now just realising how much it affected me when other people could just dive in to eating before I could test n inject. I'm not one that needs to inject ahead of meals. Just sitting down and explaining that to my hubby made him realise.. My parents just can't grasp that fact so they don't get invited to stay anymore... Harsh but I don't need that liitle bit of extra stress put on me day in day out... So sometimes it is just speaking up for oneself...

If anything my sugars have been the best ever! Maybe I've shocked my body lol
Ah apologies, I realise I misread the first line of your opening post. My brain skipped the 'back on track' bit. Doh!
