I've recently started using a meter, and not sure what to do with the used strips and lancets, do I use a special box or just throw them in the bin, which doesn't seem right ???

My Codefree meter strips come in a special tub with a click down lid.. When a tub is empty I take the label off and use the tub for used strips, then throw it in the household rubbish. I use the Fastclix pen for stabbing my finger. The lancets are inside a plastic drum and can also be thrown away in household rubbish.

Request a "sharps box" from your doctor or chemist, you can then have the council pick it up for you and they will dispose of it accordingly.

My local council provide a yellow sharps bin which I use for lancets and strips. I have lancets which are not enclosed in a small drum as well as the ones which do, which is why my GP suggested I do this. I prefer it as well. It's a simple couple of times a year request and always worked well.

Means I'm up and running with it if I ever go to insulin and use needles.
