I had my yearly diabetes appointment at my Gp surgery this morning. I have never seen this diabetes nurse, but she was bubbly, happy and friendly. She greeted me warmly and then said " lets have a look, your type 2 since November 24th 1992"
me " no, that's not me, you must have the wrong person on the screen"
Nurse checked my details and it would appear my new Gp who has taken over from my Gp who retired in August 2016, has me down as 'Late onset type 2' !! because according to diabetes nurse, type 1 only happens in children and adolescents !! I told her she was not right because it can happen at any age, not just in children/teenagers ( I was 31) and diagnosed with type 1 in August 1989.
What makes me mad is the fact that a Gp I have never even met, has decided to change my diagnosis after 27 years ( this will be my 28th year) how dare he I asked what he was like and the nurse said he was an older Gp, very nice and very thorough and knows a lot about diabetes Anyway, she advised me to ask for a telephone call with new Gp, but I will make an appointment to see him face to face. God help me, I think I may be in for a bit of battle
Results for today are.
Hbac1, 55 ( wish it was lower, but nurse was pleased)
Total cholesterol 4.9
LDL, N/A ( not done)
HDL 1.99
Tc/HDL 2.5
BP, 130/70 ( a little high for me)
Weight 8.12
so overall, with thyroid test, kidney function, pulse in feet, all good and normal, folic acid and B12, good.
Nurse was very happy and said I must be looking after myself and I need to give a urine sample in, which I will do this week.
