Hi, I started going to my GP's diabetic clinic about a month ago as I was having more hypo's than before in the morning. I now know this was due to being menopausal and a strange hormone interaction with insulin. He told me to take no correction doses at all when my blood sugar is high and only fast acting Humalog when having food and reduce my long acting Lantus by half! The problem is because my blood sugar has now been so high for so long now that I feel ill. Should I just ignore the GP and take needed correction doses or stick with what he suggests?

If you have ketones you should correct.

If your blood sugar is consistently high, do a basal test to see if you need more Lantus.

Feeling nauseous could be one of your menopause symptoms.

Why not go back to your GP?

Thank you. I am going back but not sure if I should be listening to him, feeling ill is due to high blood sugar. I totally agree with the adjustment of Lantus and will try that. Thank you.
