Here is the new forum for pump users,who's going first?

Hi I started on omnipod 9 weeks ago and don't like it full of rashes which are very itchy. my diabetic Nurse said it was the best for me give me more freedom and flexibility. personally now I think I prefers the needles even though I hated injecting myself. What do others think to there pumps.

This is a really good site to ask all your questions and mostly you get good replies you also find most answers to your questions happy you go on ok with getting a perminant pod.i got mine quickly as I said to my specialist I had a needle intolerance also very depressed at the time and told them I just wanted to inject all the insulin I had to end it all still do

I started out getting itchy rashes -- but now I use cavilon barrier spray which stops the adhesive from the pod from causing a skin reaction.

try and just take things 1 day at a time -- it is hard when you are not in a good place to want to look after yourself.
we need you to be here and would like you to keep posting

@jane Schofield Sorry you're feeling down. Diabetes can be very wearing. My tip,is to take one day at a time and just do the best you can for that day.

Back to pumps. I don't have an Omnipod but I do have an Animas Vibe pump. I have sensitive skin but I haven't had any issues with itchy rashes or irritation from the sets that you stick to your skin.

I think it would be worth speaking to your DSN or GP and see if they can prescribe something to help. You shouldn't have to put up with feeling so uncomfortable. Don't let them palm you off. Explain how irritating the itchiness is and ask for help. Sometimes we have to be a little pushy to get the support we need, so never be nervous about politely pushing a tiny bit more.

Using the Cavilon Barrier Film spray has kept my skin protected. It's available on prescription. I also use an adhesive remover spray that protects the skin when changing the pod each time.

It does get better and easier I promise! Diabetes isn't easy to deal with and the fact you're still here proves how strong you are. My mindset has always been "I'm the same as everyone else. I'm not different. I've just got to do different things to others. But it won't stop me or define me. I define it."

I'm not saying that everything is okay with that mindset. However, it's certainly easier.
