Thanks to Metformin side effects had a disturbed night :-( however I took the opportunity to do some BG readings

Tested before bed ... 6.8

Up at 1.30am ... 8.1

Up again at 3.30 ... 7.6

Woke at 8.30 ... 8.0

The early morning one is quite a lot lower than when tested at Drs two weeks ago after a week (so far) of LCHF.

My questions are these:

1. Is it likely that BG rises at night may be one of the reasons why my HbA1c has been higher for about two years - given that my diet had been pretty consistent?
I know the answer is probably not that simplistic (!) but would like some idea of the physiology going on.

2. Would taking some of my Metformin closer to bedtime help to slow these rises down?
I take 2x 500g at breakfast and another 2 at teatime (6.30ish) at the moment. (The side effects seem to occur every third day on average so I assume there is some slow build up of the drug.) In which case timing may not matter.

I have just swapped back from SR as it seemed to affect me worse than the plain stuff.
