I thought I had Dawn Phenomenon Somogyi Effect: but I was wrong (weird)

Since I got my Freestyle Libre - it can see I get a lows at 3am (3.8mmol) but my body pushed it back to 5 mmol till I wake up and BANG!

On physically getting out of bed and getting ready for work - my BS shoots up to about 8mmol (No Carbs touch my lips- eggs coffee bacon etc).

My body seems to drag this back down to 6mmol over the next 4-5 hours
Nothing I eat during the day really has any impact on my BS because I dont eat Sugar or Carbs so its all a bit perplexing
Anyway It gets it all back down to about 5.5mmol at bed time

Very strange but I guess 3/4 of the day im <6 and 1/4 im 6-8 :¬)

Hi @madusmacus , sorry don't know what type you are, but how about the effects if meds/insulin? How do they correlate with your ups and downs? Sue x

My blood glucose rises from waking until i eat - it is just a liver dump that my body makes to give me the energy to start the day.

If i eat something on waking, it stops the rise immediately.

If i don't eat til i have trundled around, showered, dressed, got ready for the day, and then test before breakfast, my bg can have risen by 2-3 mmol/l. If it is a stressful day, it will go much higher.

So i try to remember to eat 1 brazil nut, on waking. Stops the rise dead.
So will a baby bel or a teasp of peanut butter.

Unfortunately, i often forget.

Hi I am type 2 and my 1000mg sr metformin probably is not doing anything much

Taking my metformin in the morning after I get up, seems to do nothing,
but maybe if I stopped it the climb might be higher I don't know :¬)

That is a very non-diabetic looking graph. Nothing to complain about there!
