hey all, hope we’re all well !

recently my hypo symptoms have changed, I was once hyper sensitive and felt hypo around 5 but since controlling my BG better I have strange symptoms !

I don’t get shakey or “dizzy” anymore but lights start getting stuck in my vision so for example ill look at my phone screen and will have these blobs in my vision like a camera has just flashed my eyes sort of sensation, the weirdest and most recent is that it feels almost like time has skipped a second, I’ll be walking then it feels like everything speeds up and I slow down, is this normal?? I don’t remember having these symptoms prior, thank you in advance x

Hey! I am on Novorapid fast acting & Lantus background insulin, I get these symptoms when I’m in the low 3’s or 2’s, the lower I get the more scary the symptoms get, like the “time lapse” feeling gets more intense and eventually I feel like I’m not even there! So surreal, but I’m dealing with it. Was just wondering if anyone can identify with this also! Glad to feel not so alone! X

I'm also on Lantus & Novorapid.. Lol, odd you mention the "time lapse." Was in a two bands with a couple of T1 bass players..
(What are the chances of that!?!) one was all over the place when low. Whilst the other swore blind the rest of the band was..

I myself have felt whilst low that the music has skipped half a bar then find it a struggle to keep up for four bars while I work out what happened... :banghead:

It’s a nightmare!! It only happens when I’m walking! I was in Barcelona recently and walking I felt almost like I was sucked out of my surroundings (in my mind) then dropped back really abruptly and it makes me jump?! I feel like I sound crazy, I long for the older days of having shakey hands thank u for your feedback, that’s crazy!! x

@samowen268 I have a whole range of hypo symptoms depending on whether I'm sub-4, sub-3 or sub-2 - when I'm very low I get a funny clicking in my ears, I completely zone out and my vision goes absolutely bonkers on me - those are my 2.5mmol and lower symptoms.

Speed of drop I also find adds to the smorgasbord of symptom variety.

Thank u this has definitely helped! When I’m 4ish I get this urge to stretch which drives me mad, I feel a bit weakish, 3’s is just clammy and sweaty and I usually notice I have little colour in my face at this point, 2’s (I’m in a hypo state right now) and all I feel is very zoned out (time lapse sensations), eyes are insane, all the colours from the lights just keep blowing up when I look at dark surfaces, very low energy & shaking sensation! We don’t get enoug credit for dealing with these situations haha, kind regards!! X

Hi I'm on novo rapid fast acting and tresiba background insulin. I wouldn't worry about it as I get older my symptoms have changed I use to get the 'normal' symptoms of feeling shaky n dizzy and all that but not I get weird vision, irritated and a really bad urge to just stretch which is a pain in the butt!!! When I told my diabetes specialist she said there's nothing to worry about and it's normal for symptoms to change

Hi there,

My symptoms have changed over the 36 years of being Type 1.

Once I thought I had somehow gone back in time to 2014 and I had somehow found a "worm hole" Obviously I was having a hypo though not aware at the time. I had just got back from work and was at home. I was looking at the time on my phone and watching the TV but they both seemed to "morp" into one. Everything around me seemed to disolve into each other. Really weird and scary.

I spent half hour wandering up and down my road trying to find the "worm hole" to get back to 2017.

When back home I realised I was low and had a glass of lucozade. I then realised my phone stated 20:14 (time) and I thought it was the year!

It is what happens now with me now. Things morph into one another. Extreme confusion. Pins and needles in lips, bitter taste in mouth and severe light sensitivity. No doubt these will change in time also.

Shame I never found that worm hole.. Could go back in time and change my life! Ha...

Oh my god that sounds awful! Haha, it’s mad how much hypos make us look and feel crazy, I used to have such a set list of symptoms for hypos but now i never know what to expect, I’ve never been that hypo to experience what you have tho! Hahaha I think we all wish we could go back in time! Thanks for that x

No worries. I thinks it's really important to be able to laugh about it living with this condition. Anyway need to find that worm hole again, just saw Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers pass by my window..

I too have vision symptoms; it’s as though the sun is directly in front of my eyes, all I see is a blazing yellow. Sometimes this is the first symptom I have if my blood sugar is dropping rapidly. Luckily my pump is linked to a continuous glucose sensor & the insulin delivery is halted. When my glucose levels are falling slowly my family notices that I keep running my fingers through my hair.
