Had my 'new patient' appt at my new doc surgery today (only 5 months after i registered)
Had it with a lovely nurse in her 20s.
All very standard, blood pressure, widdle dip stick (no protein, bg not registering) height, weight (as expected) obligatory offer for a free intro to Weight Watchers (no thanks, but appreciate the offer
)
We got to family health history including diabetes, cancer, neurological disorders and so on
But then it got a bit interesting.
What prescription drugs, non prescription, herbal supplements and dietary supplements was i on?
So i listed them, abbreviating my supplements quite a bit, but mentioning vit D
'Oh good!' She said. 'When i was trained, the consultant who came to talk to us said that he firmly believed that everyone in the UK should be supplementing D3. I'm trying to get all my patients to start taking it. My husband is a bit reluctant, so i give it to him with breakfast and then make sure he doesn't forget.'
Well, you know me. I had to push it a bit
and she had specifically mentioned D 3!
So I asked
'Do you give them K2 as well?'
'Oh yes! No point otherwise' she said.
Brilliant, eh? Times they are a changin'!
If anyone hasn't heard of the benefits of D3 and K2 in combination, this article explains it fairly well
