So was 6.0mmol before lunch today then 2 hours later was 7.8mmol, just got slagged by the lad telling me that's too much of a jump, makes me feel like utter **** and a failure :( x

2 mmol´s raise from the number before the meal is what I was taught was okay...
what is more important is that the number levels down into normal area at the latest 2 hours after the meal...

we are actually all very different, some have a much more severe insulin resistance and some can´t do the very low carb eating style.

you have to be your own Anchor, and decide what is your personal goals.

I think you should mostly focus on any development that goes in the right direction.. just decide your own main focus...

as more people in here has said; this is not a sprint this is more like a lifelong Marathon... and we (almost ) all fail once in a while and have better and worse periods where our efforts varies

@kaylz91 . Sounds great to me. I'd be happy as a pig in s**t if that was me.
Is lad a fellow T1?
If he is then he's probably really boring:):)
If he's not then ignore him and be a happy diabetic with good numbers.

No he's not diabetic and only knows what he's read on the internet which clearly isn't very much as he would realise that this was ok and acceptable x

I didn't see it but I think I can guess the typo :)

Sounds like a classic example of someone with a bit of theoretical knowledge having no idea when it comes to the practicalities in the real world. I must be positively screwed by that standard with my 9.2 after lunch today!

Hypos, rude people, ignorance and grey days.
@kaylz91 Hun cut yourself some slack, that's nothing to worry about, not quite sure where this lad gets his online knowledge from but until he walks in your shoes then he's got no idea what your dealing with, maybe when he gets a PhD then he will start to come close but until then ignore his comments. A post meal spike is typical for diabetics, some will pre bolus by say up to 20 mins to counter it, but the most important reading is your pre meal test, as long as you are in range again at this point then your bolus calculation was correct and did the job.
