This is the first time I have been ill since my diagnosis 6 months ago. I also have Asthma. I have a chest infection and it is taking longer than usual to get better. Does it take longer to get better with Diabetes?

I have heard diabetes can affect recovery time. To be honest, I always assumed this is the impact that prolonged high BG has on recovery time.
My personal experience is I take no longer to recover than prior to having diabetes. However, I may feel more rubbish during the illness - illness raises BG and high BG magnifies the symptoms of the illness.
So the usual approach is lots of finger pricks, increased basal and lots of bolus corrections. Then recovery time is about the same.
