    Hello All,

Hope you are all well and fitting fit. :D

I have seen the thread in fasting blood glucose, but was wondering what they are for only Type 2's.

Mine are between 4.5 and 6.0 depending on what I have eaten / drunk the night before.

    Cheers

My morning readings are the only readings I have a problem with, they are usually between 6.8 and 7.3, and I just can't get them any lower, the rest of the day Im in the 5s - 6s before and after meals. I'm on no medication at present

I am Type 2 and my morning fasting readings are usually between 5 and 6.9. I used to get 4s as well but not for several months now. For more details see the other morning thread.

Fasting was 8.2 (so the soup I had last night is obviously a no-no from now on).

I am now usually in the 5s, with the occasional low 6. I had a lovely run of 4s in June/July, which may have been associated with an additional (non-diabetes) med.

For about 5 months after I was diagnosed my morning fasting reading was always the highest. I have assumed this was the 'Dawn Phenomenon' (search on here, there's a whole thread about it) which is when your liver gives you a glucose dump in the morning to get you revved up for the day. I attribute not getting this any more to having lowered my insulin resistance by losing weight (50lb so far), diet and metformin.

    is 7.0 - 7.5 dangerous for a morning reading?

7.2 this morning, 12 hours after eating. I never had my bed time glass of red wine last night so I'll blame that.

My last hba1c was 6.1 on a 'normal' carby diet occassional chips and unhealthy white bread. :D

Just a wild, wild guess here, but I go to the gym 5 mornings a week before work. Would my body be getting use to this routine and dump more sugar in my system to compensate for my workout?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn

Not dangerous as such, but of course doesn't help your averages much, and hence your HbA1c.
Mine was 6.6 this morning. It's normally a little lower, but I went to bed with a higher than normal reading after a big pasta type meal. Do you check your bed-time readings? I found that I need to eat nothing from at least 2 hrs before bed to get a lower bedtime reading, which gives me a better morning reading.
Also think about WHEN you test. I discovered this recently aftyer reading posts from others. If I test as soon as I roll out of bed, it's about 0.5 to 0.7 LOWER than if I test just 20 mins later after shave, shower etc, even though I've still not eaten. It's because the body is saying, "right, you're up at last, better give you some sugar to start fuelling your day." The roll-out-of-bed reading is a better indicator for me of what I've been all night and hence effect on averages - I'm on diet-only

Between 8 and 12 and hoping the 12's at least will disappear soon.
