5.7 at 7:45am this morning. Had to get my blood drawn at 8:20 for my quarterly checkup with the DSN.

Appointment for the results and checkup is next week, I'm bracing myself for a comment on my fasting value - again. :bored: My DSN doesn't seem to understand that even though I wake up at 5.7, the bike ride (while fasting with insulin on board) still raises me, so by the time I get my blood drawn I have 20 minutes of elevated bs from exercise (usually between 7-8 -- I was up to 7.9 when I got home, so after 30-40 minutes of biking). It doesn't mean I'm not managing it well enough, it's just DP. I come back down once I have food and a proper injection in my system. I think I'll whip out my meter and show her this time!

13.6 when is this going to right itself
Well, it won't "right itself", but if you give the LCHF programme a try you'll stand a very good chance of seeing an improvement quite quickly. My BG levels started to drop from around 13 to single figures with a month, and a month after that they were regularly in the 5s with occasional 4s. @daisy1 will send you some more information and you can find information on the LCHF programme here, https://www.diabetes.co.uk/lowcarb/
Good luck - stick with it, you're worth it! :)
(My FBG today - 5.4)

Hi, Kathleen,
Whenever you want to welcome someone new, 'tag' daisy1 (i.e. type an "@" immediately in front of her user name) in your reply to the new member (such as @mayoburt). Daisy will then get an alert and send out the welcome message with lots of helpful information to get them started.
I've replied to your message in this thread, so as not to take the previous Low Chat thread off topic. (You can click on "Watch Thread" at the top of any page to get notifications of new messages on the thread sent to your Alerts box.)
Good to see you getting such great numbers lately, BTW. :)

This was done, as requested, yesterday Jaylee, then tagged both grannygrump and mayoburt to let them know Id done that. What's the point of having two threads for fbg if we're going to chat on this one?
I totally agree, Anna. After all, it's easy enough to reply to a 'chatty' message by cutting and pasting it into this chatty FBG thread, thus keeping the Low Chat thread on topic and still remaining friendly and supportive to other members. :)

Thankyou Kathleen should get my blood results back today. Really dont want to go on insulin. Tried metformin but it makes me really ill
It's hard not to worry in the beginning, I know, but read all you can on this site and give the LCHF a go - it works for a great many people and can be a real life-changer.

There is also no guarantee that you will have to take any sort of medication - if you look at the "signatures" of many posters (the bit at the very bottom of their posts) you'll see that a lot of T2s are meds-free.

When I joined the forum shortly after my diagnosis I noticed that Metformin seemed to make a lot of people very poorly, so I agreed with my GP that I would try diet only for the first 3 months. Thanks to LCHF it worked a charm and I have never taken any meds.

Good luck with your results! :)

Thanks very much I will try to remember but little grey cells don't work well these days cannot retain info for long unless I'm doing it constantly. Kathleen

9.2 which isn't so bad as 2 hours after dinner I was 20.2. Hopefully today will be a bit better as I upped my lantus by 2 units
Hi @Wayne18000 we are chatting on this thread as our original one is for a number mainly.
I hope you never see 20s again. Is lantus your basal insulin? See if your dn will help reduce your after meal rise. Low carbs will definitely help with huge spikes from food.
I hope tomorrows fbg is lower than your 9.2. These high numbers are sooo damaging. Irreversible damage.

Thankyou for your input after doing 10 mins on my bike I then had mushroom omelette and 6 strawberries fir lunch with a bottle of water. 2 hours later Bg down from 20 to 14.8 they are now 12.4 so looks like its the nasty carbs i need to get rid of. Blood test back Hsb level 101 so its gone up it was 60 something and I am waiting to see a diabetic specialist so hopefully on the right track
Your blood test (HbA1c) gives a figure which is based on your BG levels over the previous three months (blood cells have an average life cycle of 3 months), but a more precise idea of what's happening on a day-to-day basis can be gained from the daily readings you're taking with your monitor. So, coming down from 20 to 12.4 is still high, yes, but it's not catastrophic and I'm sure it will drop even further over the next few weeks.
A comment made to me in the early days after my diagnosis was "Diabetes is a marathon, not a 100m sprint" and I found that helpful to remember at times when it seemed as if results weren't coming quickly enough.
You are certainly on the right track - ever since you landed on this website! :)

Morning pleinster. I think I know where your sugar fairies have arrived this morning. Up to 8.0 today from 5.6 yesterday! I hope they are just passing through. Glad to see you on the "chatty" thread. Enjoy your Friday.:)

Little gits!

Was switched onto Toujeo as new basal last summer and thankfully it seems to have done the trick

How are you keeping Paul?

6.2 today

That's great, Ian. Me...back and forwards to the renal clinic...but I'm ok. Really good to see your progress.
