why are some type 1.5's overweight at diagnosis, if anything I would think they would be thin or normal weight.

Hi. It could be a very early LADA diagnosis where there are still quite a few good islet cells left and the person is not having a good low-carb diet? Just a guess.

Hi,
It's good to have a section for T1.5s.
I think the normal expectation of someone presenting with diabetes when overweight and over 40(ish) would be that they are T2. I was diagnosed in 2003 and despite being normal weight and taking very low doses of insulin my GP has only recently admitted that I'm LADA. I'm not sure how you would decide someone overweight was T1.5 unless they had a GAD or C-peptide test. My GP has declined to let me have a C-peptide test even though it's the cheaper of the two.
