Diabetes experts have labelled new UK diabetes statistics a shock. The stats, reported on yesterday by Diabetes.co.uk, indicate that as many as one in ten deaths of 20-79 years olds in England can be attributed to diabetes .
The research, by the Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory. By 2010, the researchers predict, as many as one in eight deaths amongst 20-79 year olds could be down to diabetes.
Leading diabetes charity, Diabetes UK, claim that there are 2.3 million people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK, and an estimated 500,000 undiagnosed. To curb the climbing level of deaths due to diabetes, significant improvements in diabetes care are essential.
