According to a research team at Imperial College London, yoghurt really is very good for the body. As well as making the digestive process more effective, probiotic yoghurt drinks can even help to prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes .
According to reports on the research, it is the first time researchers have investigated how probiotics actually influence our metabolism . The probiotics affect microbes within the gut in a positive way when these microbes have abnormailities, type 2 diabetes can be the result.
Lead researcher Jeremy Nicholson, of Imperial, used the analogy of the probiotics talking with the gut microbes. The team are apparently full of hope that their research could lead to a special formulation of probiotics being prescribed for specific health problems.
