American Diabetes Association support senators

Wed, 07 May 2008
Recent reports in the American diabetes news indicate that the American Diabetes Association is in full support of two senators who introduced the Diabetes Prevention Access and Care Act of 2008.

This new bill is a plea to Congress to help improve diabetes care, prevention, education and treatment amongst minority populations. The Chair of the National Advocacy Committee of the ADA, John Anderson, was reported in the diabetic news as commenting:

"Diabetes has emerged as the greatest public health crisis of the 21st century, and among minority communities the footprint of this disease is even greater. With legislation like DPAC, Senator Lautenberg and Senator Isakson, raise the level of awareness about diabetes and the level of care in underserved communities."

Over 4,000 people are diagnosed with diabetes in America every day. Diabetes is the fifth most deadly disease in the states.
