A report in the Indian diabetes news indicates that more and more children are facing diabetes caused by stress and tension. The levels of stress, apparently, are down to parents providing pressure for children to excel at school, both academically and in other pursuits.
Diabetologist Sanjeev Phatak was reported as commenting: "Tension is the main cause for diabetes . Tension combined with fast food affects even kids in the second standard. In the name of encouraging their wards to play sports, parents pressure them to become Steffi Graf. This builds up tension in the child, making him prone to diabetes ."
India is a global diabetes hotspot, with some 33 million diabetic patients in the country. The diabetes opinion was given at the launch of a new pre-filled disposable insulin pen known as SoloSTAR, by Sanofi-Aventis.
