According to a major diabetes study, eating over a couple of eggs per week could seriously up the risk of developing diabetes . Furthermore, for those people with type 2 diabetes already, eggs could make the condition worse.
Specialists at the Harvard Medical School, Boston, found a daily egg could increase type 2 diabetes risk by some 60 per cent. Furthermore, the researchers found that women were the most susceptible, with those eating seven eggs per week upping diabetes risk by 77 per cent.
However, eggs do have a positive side. They are full of vitamins, proteins and other nutrients . Particularly of concern to people with diabetes and pre-diabetes, they are also high in cholesterol .
