November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and also World Diabetes Day (November 14th). Both occasions present ways in which to educate the public and raise awareness about type 1 diabetes .
World Diabetes Day this year focuses on Diabetes in Children and Adolescents. Type 1 diabetes amongst young people is growing in incidence, particularly amongst those children under five.
Diabetes screening is particularly important, both for type 1 and type 2 diabetes . Catching the disease at an early stage means it can be better managed. Unfortunately, millions of people around the world have diabetes and do not know it. Diabetes can be diagnosed using a simple test, and World Diabetes Day will raise awareness about the condition throughout the world.
