Diabetes charity Diabetes UK has launched an innovative social networking campaign to spread information to a fresh new audience. The charity has created a space on Second Life, and now launched a virtual tour of their online headquarters. The charity has also launched advertisements in public places throughout Second Life.
To many, the concept of Second Life remains confusing. It is a virtual world that Diabetes UK is using to spread information about diabetes . The charity has created a virtual world in which users can ask questions about diabetes and get help and advice from the care line.
Amanda Neylon, the digital media manager at Diabetes UK, was reported in the diabetes news as saying: "It's very cost-effective to advertise on Second Life, and it has a very broad audience." The Second Life home of Diabetes UK is also linked with other social media, including their Twitter page.
