Following on from diabetes news reports last week, it appears that adults with diabetes throughout England and Wales are not getting an adequate level of vital health checks every year.
In order to successfully stay on top of their condition, diabetics should have a variety of annual check ups. These include a review of blood glucose levels, body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, feet and eyesight to identify complications at an early stage.
The results were compiled after contributions from almost 5000 GP practices throughout the country. 151 primary care trusts contributed to the NHS information centre report. The conclusions of the report indicate that diabetes care in the UK is improving, but access to services needs further work to ensure people with diabetes get the support that they need.
