Major drug manufacturer Sanofi-Aventis has unveiled a Community Health Partnership Initiative, with the aim of cutting health care disparities amongst the black community. Sanofi are also intending to work alongside local outreach programs to create a resource guide.
The news accompanies reports of a free forum for diabetes education hosted in San Antonio last week. Organised by the Texas Diabetes Institute and the National League of United Latin American Citizens, the forum aimed to aid Hispanic people to manage diabetes and prevent the disease.
Both initiatives are examples of how minorities with diabetes are being helped, within their communities, and will hopefully set precedents and examples of how minorities with diabetes can be helped throughout the world.
