Police in China have apprehended the distributor of a deadly diabetes drug that killed two diabetic patients last month. The fake drug contained a lethal dosage of a compound used to lower blood glucose levels .
Police caught the suspected distributor, Li Dong, on Saturday morning at a rented house in Chaoyang city, Liaoning Province, China. Two other associates of the man were also apprehended, and Li has already confessed to bringing in the fake diabetes drugs from another province.
The drug, whose source remains a mystery, has also showed up in Sichuan Province. Thousands of bottles remain at large, with police and health authorities warning diabetics against taking the fake drug.
