According to reports in the diabetes news, the Norfolk Diabetes Study has now recruited 6000 members. The aim of the study is to identify genetic factors directly linked to type 2 diabetes. The study is a collaboration between three medical centres.
The diabetes team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are partnering with the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unity and the University of East Anglia.
Speaking on behalf of the MRC Epidemiology Unity in Cambridge, Dr. Langenberg reportedly commented: "The fantastic response of the people in Norfolk to our study has given us a unique opportunity to investigate how genes influence the development of type 2 diabetes and its complications . We are very grateful to our study participants and the professional and motivated team here in Norfolk."
The aim of the study is to recruit 10,000 people with type 2 diabetes .
