Levels of obesity in Wales remain worryingly high and will possibly feed a type 2 diabetes epidemic in the country. News reports claim that the need to act now has never been more pressing, to prevent a future health time bomb.
The worst fears are that the National Health Service will be unable to deal with a mounting health crisis caused by obesity and type 2 diabetes . Jeff Cuthbert this week went public with a number of concerns about the impact diabetes could and unhealthy lifestyles could have on the country.
Cuthbert pointed out the dangers that many people face from leading sedentary lifestyles. Welsh politicians are actively fighting the obesity crisis, highlighted in the consultation document Wellbeing in Wales.
With the economic crisis driving up sales for fast food providers, and organic produce demand falling, the problem of type 2 diabetes could have a major impact on the future of Welsh healthcare .
