Greece reports rise in diabetes cases

The last week has seen an enormous number of diabetes stories from around the world, of various countries dealing with their diabetes problems in different ways. The Hellenic Diabetes Association today joined this chorus of voices to stand united in the fight against diabetes, ahead of World Diabetes Day on November 14th.

According to diabetes reports from Greece, one in ten Greek people are suffering from type 2 diabetes . A survey by the Diabetes Department of the General Hospital of Nikaia released the statistic .

Director Alexis Sotiropoulos reportedly commented: "We must drastically change our diet and take up regular exercise to avoid the worse", he stressed at the press conference in Athens, warning that if citizens of the world will not change their life styles worldwide more than 380 million people will be diabetics by the end of the following decades."
