This year, World Diabetes Day was observed in Pakistan with the goal of raising awareness about diabetes, diabetes complications and preventing diabetes . A variety of diabetic related activities were organised in both the private and public sector to mark the diabetes date .
The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences organised a scientific session alongside the Department of Medicine . The World Health Organisation representative claimed that his organisation would continue to help educate people on diabetes in Pakistan.
Professor Jamal Zafar of PIMS claimed that Pakistan would soon have 16 million people with diabetes, the fourth largest population of people with diabetes in the world. He urged all people with diabetes symptoms to check their blood sugar levels.
