According to recent diabetes news reports, diabetics with obstructive sleep apnea cold improve their condition significantly by losing weight . According to studies, the improvement could also lower risks of diabetes complications such as hypertension.
A study of type 2 diabetes patients with obesity found that lifestyle interventions could prompt rapid weight loss and improve OSA incidence. The research was conducted by experts at Temple University in Philadelphia and will be published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
The participants were given an intensive behavioural weight loss program, with a restriction in calories and moderate daily exercise. The experts charted levels of weight loss and then measured incidence of sleep apnea based on an apnea-hypopnea index.
