Diabetes charity sets fundraising challenge

Diabetes charity Diabetes UK has set a fundraising challenge for 2010. A challenge can take any form, from swimming 100 lengths to singing karaoke. Diabetes UK asks the question – why not set yourself a fun fundraising challenge for 2010 and find a novel way to raise money for diabetes research ?
The challenge is part of the Diabetes Challenge site, a fun and interactive experience that operates under the motto: Challenge yourself today! Those people that visit Diabetes Challenge can access progress updates, they can see which challenges are underway, how much has been raised and who is donating money to people with diabetes . Visitors may also share information on their progress.
One participant is Diabetes UK celebrity supporter, TV presenter Dominic Littlewood. He will be undertaking a jungle trek in Thailand and reportedly commented: “The expedition takes place in western Thailand’s Kanchanaburi Province, location of the infamous Death Railway and Bridge over the River Kwai. The challenge will take me through the rugged jungles in remote parts of the province close to the border with Burma. I’ll spend six days trekking, rafting, kayaking and riding elephants through the forests and mountains of the Thung Yai Nareusan Wildlife Sanctuary, all in the name of Diabetes UK !”
Diabetes UK Digital Media Manager Amanda Neylon was reported as saying: “By challenging yourself, you will help to raise vital funds for the three million people in the UK living with diabetes, whilst having loads of fun. Every penny really will count – because one of the best things about Diabetes Challenge is that all the money raised through the site comes straight to Diabetes UK .”
