According to a diabetes charity, diabetes patients want more say in which their local National Health Services for diabetes are managed . The news came from a report into care for people with diabetes, which claimed that many are not given diabetes education .
The facts were part of the Better Diabetes Care report released by Diabetes UK Scotland, who surveyed over 1,000 people with diabetes . The charity called on the NHS to improve both their services and the health of people with diabetes .
The national director of Diabetes UK Scotland, Jane-Claire Judson, reportedly commented: "People diagnosed with a lifelong and complex condition like diabetes can undergo a wide range of emotions and it is important that they can access the right support at the right time. The government's revised action plan will, we hope, be the driver for improvement across the country. However, it is the voice of people living with diabetes which really matters in making the right changes and working towards truly person-centred care."
