The National Prevention Research Initiative (NPRI) have launched a new 3 million pound research campaign to prevent a number of serious chronic conditions, including diabetes .
The NPRI is a body set up to govern the targeting of conditions such as diabetes in the UK. The initiative is supported by a number of different funding bodies, one of which is Diabetes UK. This initiative will be focused on the prevention of diabetes, heart disease, cancer and stroke.
Further NPRI funding objectives could have an influence on diabetes and the diabetic community, including those focused on physical activity and obesity. The NPRI are currently accepting research applications.
The diabetic community is benefiting from an increased awareness amongst the general public. Hopefully improved healthcare will reflect this in the near future .
