A recent diabetes study at Aberdeen University has found that eating bread packed with oats could help people with diabetes to control their blood sugar levels . By creating a new type of bread packed with oats, researchers indicate that better blood glucose control can be reached.
In order to test the theory, the researchers had to create a loaf of bread from scratch, as nothing with enough oats was available on the market . Scientists approached a food manufacturer and baker in Scotland.
The result is being eaten by volunteers that are taking part in the study, and the baker will begin selling the bread shortly. One researcher reportedly said: “Our initial testing of the bread indicates that it is very palatable.”
