New advanced diabetes centre

People with diabetes in Inverness will have the opportunity to attend a new clinic. Called the Centre for Health Science, the new centre will include an NHS Diabetes Centre to serve 300 diabetic patients per week.
The centre has been completed as part of the Highland Diabetes Institute, which itself is a partnership between NHS Highland, UHI and Lifescan Scotland. The centre will include diabetes experts and a research facility to develop new treatments, products and services.
The chairman of the Inverness and District Support Group of Diabetes UK reportedly commented: “The new unit will provide specialist medical and nursing care as well as out-patient clinics including podiatry and dietary advice, and the regional retinal screening service. We are grateful for any outcomes to help those with diabetes and we thank Keppie for their generous donation to our charity .”
