According to recent reports in the diabetes news, further hope of a diabetes cure has been outlined following a diabetes drug breakthrough to aid the body in regenerating cells that have been destroyed by the disease .
A research team at the Harvard Medical School in Boston have found that a cocktail of drugs could prevent the immune system from malfunctioning. Although the team have only attempted the research amongst animals at this stage, human clinical trials are planned.
Commenting on the matter, Dr. Iain Frame of leading UK diabetes charity, diabetes UK, reportedly commented: “This could potentially be very important research in finding a better treatment for diabetes. More research is needed as initial studies have only been conducted in mice, but we are pleased that clinical trials are planned and look forward to hearing the results.”
The study was published in New Scientist, and could have a big role in the future treatment of diabetes.
