A recent national medical meeting in Orlando, American, concluded that diabetics simple aren’t getting the care they need in dealing with diabetes and heart disease . Doctors, the meeting concluded, need to take an aggressive stance in linking heart disease and diabetes .
A professor at the University of Alabama, Dr. David Bell, reportedly commented: “Most people with diabetes will actually die of heart disease. If you’re a diabetic, you need to look at yourself as a heart patient as well.”
As many as 1600 medical professionals gathered at the conference to discuss metabolic disease including diabetes. Diabetes causes a variety of complications, including kidney disease, stroke, blindness, and heart disease.
Bell reportedly concluded: “We need to recognize that diabetes isn’t just a metabolic disease, it’s a cardiovascular disease as well.”
