Diabetes charity Diabetes UK has announced the launch of a new series of activity sheets for children with type 1 diabetes under the age of five. The sheets give children a variety of exciting, enjoyable activities to undertake. These include colouring i, jigsaw puzzles, stories and more.
The care advisor at Diabetes UK, Libby Dowling, was responsible for putting the resources together. She reportedly commented: “Having diabetes has a huge impact on a child’s life and it can be difficult for parents to explain to a young child the details of their condition. We hope that this resource will make it easier for parents to talk to their children about their condition in an informative but playful way.”
The resource was put together as part of the celebration surrounding the 75th anniversary of Diabetes UK. The number of children with diabetes under five is thought to have soared in the last decade.
