Bursts of exercise lower diabetes risk

According to recent diabetes research, short bursts of rigorous exercise could fundamentally alter the way in which the body processes sugars and fights diabetes, according to a new study.

A research document published in BMC Endocrine Disorders indicates that intense exercise could help to lower the risk of diabetes . The research was conducted by a team at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Professor James Timmons subjected participants to quick sprints, and reportedly commented: "This novel approach may help people to lead a healthier life, improve the future health of the population, and save the health service millions of pounds [or dollars] simply by making it easier for people to find the time to exercise."
