Schoolboy author donates book profits to diabetes charity

Max Woodward has written an e-book called The Time Machine, and is giving all profits to the charity Diabetes UK . Max, who is 8, is raising money for the charity because his sister Gabrielle suffers from the condition.
The book is free to read online, and Max has asked that those who enjoyed reading it make a donation to show their appreciation. The book is about a young orphan boy who invents a time machine so that he can go back in time and stop his parents being hurt in an accident.
Max says he has wanted to write a book for a long time; the idea originated from homework he was set at school, which he developed into an online book . The book has already raised over GBP100.
Max said “I think diabetes is not very nice; it is very hard for Gabrielle, but she copes very well. It is hard for Mum and Dad: they have to remind her to wash her hands to do her prick test, do her injections and record her results. Then we have to deal with her hypos . I am getting good at knowing when she is having a hypo and I go and tell Mum and Dad. My sister Ellen helps her at school and her friends really help too.”
Of course, there was another book with the same title – written by HG Wells, who also happened to be an original founder of Diabetes UK.
