The pop singer Mariah Carey has admitted that she developed gestational diabetes when she was pregnant with her six-month-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. The singer, known for the track “Obsessed”, revealed she had to go through a difficult pregnancy with the twins, suffering from a range of medical problems affecting her health at the time.
Carey has said she “was in a lot of pain because of the fact that they’re twins … I had a rough one … I just want people to be prepared that it can happen where you go through a rough time when you’re pregnant.”
She added “I did develop gestational diabetes. I’m good with that now, I’m OK, but you just have to be careful, nutritionally.”
Although she has claimed her voice is now stronger, the 42-year-old celebrity has also said that she thinks the problems she had during the pregnancy will put her and her husband Nick Cannon off from having any more children. She recently told the press that she was forced to take bed rest due to her health problem, such as having oedema, a condition where a large amount of fluid accumulates beneath the skin producing swelling, during her final two trimesters.
The singer has apparently reduced her weight since giving birth, losing 70lbs through exercise and following a specialised diet programme.
