I love my food too! And I try and go for quality rather than quantity at all times..

What kind of things are you eating in a typical day? And are you testing your blood sugar after meals to know what foods keep it in the normal range? This worked for me and once I had got my 'diet' figured out I knew what I could eat, I wasn't hungry between meals and I was controlling my blood sugar over the longer term.
