Good Morning All
My Name is Andrea but everyone calls me Andie I am 42. After months of my GP telling me that I was and then I wasn't a diabetic I finally got a confirmed diagnosis of type 3 diabetes. I have been prescribed metformin and bombarded with so much information my head is ready to explode.
I asked if I should get myself a blood sugar monitor so that I could keep a check on my blood sugars but was told no that they didn't want me to do that and that they would test my HbA1 I think every 3 months. Needless to say that I am I have been told that I should be on a low fat diet and should endeavour to loose some wait. I did change me diet when I was first told in November 2016 to more fresh fruit and veg less processed foods more fresh meats, only for my cholesterol to go through the room and then having to start taking statins.
I was then told in March 2017 that I was actually a pre-diabetic then August 2017 they finally confirmed that I was actually type 2 diabetic and was started on metformin and told to go on a low calorie diet which I am struggling with and I am concerned that me not monitoring my blood sugars could cause me to have further health issues. I have always struggled with my weight even more so since I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid 20 years ago and fibromyalgia so I have gradually become less active as my muscle pains have gotten worse and it is painful to move and my balance has gotten worse.
I could do with someone to actually put down on paper and show me what I should and shouldn't eat and the amounts. I am allergic to nuts and I can't eat spice foods so could do with a simple plain English food diet which doesn't contain and spices or pepper. All the diet books I have looked at contain recipes for food I can't eat or food I do not like.
I need guidance and clear information on what I should or shouldn't be doing. All suggestions would be greatly received and appreciated.
