Type 1 and breast cancer

Just before Christmas, I met a friend in town and gave her a hug. Our boobs clashed and I thought "Mmm, that hurt". Didn't think any more about it until end of January when I felt a large lump in my right breast. Booked a doctors appointment and was seen in the Breast Care clinic two weeks later. After talking with a lovely and reassuring consultant I was told it was probably tissue thickening due to my diabetes. I'd never heard of that happening! However, he wanted to do a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy just in case. A week later I was back in clinic to be told I had Stage 2 invasive ductal cancer and would need chemotherapy, radiotherapy followed by surgery. My first chemo appointment is next week.
