  1. I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. My GP is urging me to start taking Metformin. I do not wish to start taking medication as I would like to control my diabetes through diet and exercise. I have asked if I can see a dietician to help me plan the correct diet but have been told there is no money available to provide this service. It appears that it is much easier for the doctor for me to pop pills, which in the long term will cost more money than to help me control my present problem. Any suggestions?
