  1. Hi I'm new to this forum I've being recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I'm managing it with tablets and diet which has been successful, my awaking blood sugars are 6.8 now a big difference from 11. What annoys me the most is when I asked the doctor could I have a blood glucose monitor to keep check on my levels. She said ohhh no you don't need to check your blood sugars.... I was baffled couldn't understand this statement, is this not akin to a orstrich sticking its head in the sand!!! I thought.. anyway I was just wondering if anyone else received this sort of conflicting messages ... diet take your medication... but don't check your blood sugars!!!
