  1. Into the third week of trying intermittent fasting, some walking and a bit less carbs having dropped to under 30 a day.
    The first 2 weeks have seen me lose 7lb, and my fasting readings dropping to the fives most days, no real way to know but I am putting the weight loss down to the walking I am doing 5 or 6 walks a day each about 3/4 mile, so 4 miles or so a day that I wasn’t doing, and I am putting the fasting fives down to not eating after diner as the one time I did I was in the mid sixes the following morning.
    I am not sure that dropping my carbs from under 40 to under 30 has had any impact to be honest, over a period of months dropping them from under 130 to under 40 saw no difference to my weight or blood glucose, I got a 42 reading in February when I was under 80 carbs, and still 42 earlier this month by which time I was down to under 40, perhaps dropping total carbs by 20 every other month has let my body get used to it and that’s why I haven’t got the big weight drop others have experienced, who knows, I will stick to under 30 this week, then we are on holiday next week so I will think about dropping further after that.

    Anyway, today, tested at 6.0 at 0800, first 6 for several days, but expected as I go fishing on a Sunday and can’t stick to my routine. Then had 2 coffees with milk and my usual breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon and mushrooms. 6 carbs. Holding off for the rain to go for my first walk of the day.

    1100, first walk of the day, stuck to the paths as the park is sodden, 1750 steps banked.

    1300, second walk, 3500 steps banked, then home for lunch, prawns with a homemade Marie Rose sauce 2.5 carbs, and a litre bottle of water.

    1530, quick walk before the rain comes back, 4900 banked.

    1730, tested before diner 5.0, marks and Spencer’s chicken tikka 17 carbs so 25.5 carbs today, then time for another walk 6650 banked.
  2. The first weeks blog can be found further down for anybody that’s interested, if nobody is interested I am finding it helpful, lol.
    0700, I fish on a Sunday, leaving the house about 7am and returning at 6pm, so fitting in walks and a 16 hour intermittent fast on a Sunday isn’t on, I was 6.8 when I tested last Monday and 6.4 today. So out for the first walk of the day, 1350 steps, followed by the first coffee, bliss.

    1000, broke my 16 hour intermittent fast with my usual breakfast, 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, mushrooms and 3 rashers of bacon and my second coffee with milk. 6 carbs. Then went for my second walk of the day, 2600 steps banked and home to my first litre bottle of water.

    1215, third walk of the day, 3850 steps banked ! I am beginning to find these walks quite addictive, tempting to up them, but don’t want to end up coughing up blood again.

    1315, quiche for lunch, I don’t eat the crust or base so only count the eggs, right or wrong, 2 carbs. Followed this with my fourth walk of the day 5100 steps banked.

    1700 off for another walk before diner, going to aim for 7500 a day this week, 6550 banked and one to go.

    1730, diner, chicken tikka from marks, 17 carbs, so 25 carbs today.

    1830, will be the last walk of the day 7,800 steps.
  3. I was diagnosed in October 2020 whilst in intensive care with Covid, with a reading of 126, thanks to this forum and a low carb diet of about 100g, when I was checked in February I was down to 42, and weighing 24 stone 4lbs.

    Over the next 6 months I wasn’t able to do much exercise as Covid has left my lungs badly scarred and it didn’t take too much exertion to have me coughing up blood for days or weeks, but I dropped my carb intake every couple of months, down to 80, 60 and most recently 40, despite this my meter readings remained in the sixes first thing morning, and generally between 4.8 and 5.4 before meals.

    Monday saw me have a 6 month check up, my reading was again 42, and I had somehow managed to put on 4lb.

    I am now firmly of the mind that I am only going to get my numbers down if I can get my weight down, so as of Monday I am going to go under 30 a day, try to do a bit of exercise and see how I progress over the coming 4 weeks.

    To give me something to refer to, and hopefully to allow some of the more experienced members to steer me in the right direction if I am doing something wrong I thought I would do a blog for the next 4 weeks, meter readings, meals, and the dreaded scales ... wish me luck !
