  1. Thanks to a lot of advice and support from this site, I started the low carb high fat diet one year ago, my waist size has dropped from 44 ins to 36 inches without a lot of effort (other than avoiding my bacon and egg sarnies aghhhh) my weight has fallen from 23.5 stone to 17 stone. I quit gliclazide in the first week, my bloods have dropped where I ranged from 11 - 23 I now range 6-9 but one small blip in my diet can still send it to 12. I still take glucophage (metphormine) should I stop these now?

My main worry this Christmas is alcohol, I was told that one beer was equivalent to eating a mars bar, so I changed to whiskey with a pint of water on the side, but have found that the amount of units of alcohol that I consume now far exceeds what I used to achieve on beer, 3-4 pints of beer was my maximum, now I can easily consume 35-50 cl of whiskey. Like many I have dinner dance tomorrow night, I have booked a low carb meal at the hotel, but the benefits of this might be offset by the after dinner drinks.
