Carer of Diabetes 2 and BPD

I am just wondering if there are any guidelines when someone has Diabetes 2 and borderline personality disorder.

Their mental health is very bad and I heard that diabetes 2 affects mental health and vice versa.

Their diabetes is very bad and mental health very bad but no one seems to care.

Contacts the crisis team and they don't do a lot, went to accident and emergency took an overdose received no help and support.

I have talked to a few helplines and BPD very difficult to access support long waiting list.

Just lurching from one crisis to another.

Seen the diabetic clinic but seems to be passed back and forward GP Diabetes clinic GP diabetes Clinic.

they are just being sent on a merry go round and no one is listening.

Been told they should have a mental health key worker to co ordinate their care but not seeing anyone in mental health services.

Saw a diabetic nurse I don't think they know they have BPD , shouldn't a diabetic nurse be up on that sort of thing.

I unpaid carer don't know what to do, this person clearly needs long term co ordinated support.

I have been told to contact social services for a carers assessment but diabetes and borderline personality disorder,

I'm a borderliner with T2, and out of control blood sugars do make it a LOT worse. (And yes, when suffering mentally, stress levels and thus blood sugars go up too. It's a vicious circle if ever there was one.) Thing is, a nurse specialising in diabetes doesn't know a thing about mental illness, same with every other thing you mentioned: they all focus on their own area, there's no overlap anywhere. While when blood sugars are continuously high, we do get a lot worse, mentally... From unfathomable depression, irrational behaviour and anxiety, to suicidal thoughts. There are shrinks and therapists who specialise in T1's who suffer diabetic burn out, maybe seeking one out might help? Not sure how that would be covered though.

It'd be better if they had a support system of professionals in place who actually coordinate things, but that... Well, that'd be a perfect world, I suppose. Social services might be the place to go to find as much of that as possible though. They tend to know people/help/funding.
