I'm now on the Low Carb Diet and working on my first challenge which is giving up sugary drinks. Drank water with my lunch today! :-) Jun 10, 2017

    Type of diabetes:
    Type 2
    Treatment type:
    Insulin
    Medication:
21 Units of Lantus daily, 850mg of Metformin 3x daily, 81mg of Acetysalicylic 1x daily and 10mg of Crestor 1x daily
    Exercise:
1 hour of brisk walking twice a day 7 days a week. (I wish! Well....that's what the doctor recommended. :-))
    Likes:
Playing Tennis (I hope to be able to play again some day soon when I get my weight down)
    Dislikes:
Daily use of needles and sitting for too long (a work issue).
I was rushed to hospital on 31 July 2015 with a blood sugar level of 635 mg/ dl. After a week in ICU, I began my new life with Type 2 Diabetes.

At 5' 9", I currently weigh in at 239 lbs and I am classified as Obese II. So my aim is to get down to just under 200 lbs.

My main challenges during my workday are going to lunch on time and drinking enough water during the workday (largely due to effect of the air conditioning).

I feel the need to remove bread entirely from my diet and so I'm researching this online for practical alternatives.

My ultimate aim is to get off of the insulin injections and play tennis again (at my new weight) some day soon.
